Welcome to The Nest Society!

Who
we are

The Nest Companion Bird Care & Rehabilitation Society was formed to meet the needs of the predominantly special needs birds that have come into our care. The philanthropic efforts that Dr. Anne McDonald and Night Owl Bird Hospital have engaged in for decades will continue in perpetuity as a result of the formation of The Nest.

The Nest relies entirely on the donation of funds and supplies to operate. Every dollar goes towards the constant care of these special birds.

We are also now a registered charity and can issue tax receipts!

"Humans are responsible for every bird that has been brought into our world.
Whether that be by importation or breeding, the responsibility lies with us."

The Promise to Care Forever

We do not operate a walk in facility, and we are not open to the public. Please reach out directly if you are interested in visiting.

Several of the birds at The Nest came into our care following Canada's largest animal rescue endeavor on Vancouver Island. You can learn more in this documentary:

Navigate through this website to get to know our birds (aka Nesters), and learn more about these incredible creatures and how you can support their journeys and long-term care. Thank you for visiting!
